Get Paid to Write Companies

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Most people start trying to make money online with various other companies. Then they realize that they depend too much on people who may or may not pay them. At some point they realize that they need their own web site. i skipped all of that & went straight to my own website. In typical Sarakastic fashion, after blogging for money for years I tried to try out some of the get paid to write companies. I focused on companies that paid with residuals instead of one time payments. At this point & time I just can’t make myself write articles on a subject that someone else chooses. Here are my reviews of the major get paid to write companies. I know there are a lot of companies out there. I’ve tried out a lot of them, but right now I’m focusing on Ehow, Infobarrel & Bukisa.

Ehow is probably the biggest get paid to write company out there. It has a google page rank of 7 & an alexa score from 300-400. You are paid from residuals once a month. The minimum payout is $10. There isn’t a referral program.

Ehow Pros

  • I got more traffic to my Ehow articles in three months than I have from my entire blogging career. (Depending on my blog)
  • Higher search result rankings.
  • Every get paid to write site is different. The eHow forums have lots of useful info. Plus, there are lots of ebooks for sale that will actually help you make more money. I usually don’t buy ebooks, but this really helped me get the hang of the site a lot faster.
  • You can include relevant referral links at the end of your article.

Ehow Cons

  • You can only write in an how to format. This isn’t the place for opinion pieces.
  • It’s a popular site which means that there are tons of articles there. If you are trying to target keywords it’s hard to find ones that haven’t already been used by someone else.
  • They don’t reveal their payment formula. This made me very wary of ehow at first. However, I’ve found that I make more money there than at other sites. If they want to have a super secret formula on how to figure out how much money they pay me, fine. Just as long as they pay me.
  • You have to live in the United States to get paid to write for Ehow.
  • Recently there have been a lot of bugs on the site. The views & earnings aren’t updating as regularly as they used to, so it makes people nervous. There has been fighting in the forums as a result. However, ehow still has paid everyone on time & updated everything as soon as possible.

Bukisa

Bukisa doesn’t pay on a percentage of ad clicks. Instead, you get paid $3.65 for every thousand visitors. Bukisa is a new site so I can’t vouch for it’s credibility. I’ve written about ten articles there. I think that Bukisa is a good site to write for if:

A. You can build a downline.

B. You know how to drive lots of traffic to your articles.

Pros

  • You don’t have to live in the US to write for Bukisa.
  • Bukisa uses Twitter. This avoids all of the fighting that is found on a lot of web forums. Plus, they seem to twitter a lot to keep people informed of what they are doing.
  • Html editor so you can add links to your articles.
  • There isn’t a how to format although articles are supposed to be informative. This gives a lot more flexibility to your writing.
  • There is a nifty widget that you can customize to go on your blog. It automatically shows your latest articles.
  • You can submit multiple formats like audio, video & even slides.

Bukisa has a referral program where you earn a percentage of what every person you sign up earns. This can be a pro or a con depending on how you look at it because you really have to recruit people to make a lot of money on the site.

Cons

  • Bukisa has a page rank of 4 & an Alexa ranking of 36,000+ Since it’s a fairly new site, this may change over time. I find that my articles at Bukisa don’t get nearly the traffic that they do at eHow. I think you need to know how to get traffic to your articles to write for this site. On eHow it’s possible to just write an article & leave it be.
  • Even if your article makes a lot of money for the company, you still only get paid $3.65 per thousand impressions.
  • You can’t use referral links in your articles.
  • The Bukisa Index changes. This is how much you are paid per thousand impressions. So far it’s gone from $3.95 to $3.65.
  • Min. payout is $50, which can take awhile to reach.

InfoBarrel is a site more focused on revenue sharing. It’s fairly new. I’ve only written two articles there.

Pros:

  • You get 75% of the Adsense & eBay Partner Network ad impressions. You use your own Adsense Publisher ID so you don’t have to wait around for a company to pay you. Well you have to wait for Google to pay you. The min. payout for adsense is $100.
  • You get 2% of the ad impressions of the person you refer.
  • They are somewhat selective of their writers. You have to have ten articles approved before you can just write without each article being reviewed. There doesn’t seem to be the thousands of writers all in competition at InfoBarrel like there are at other sites.

Cons:

  • InfoBarrel has an alexa rank of 64,092 & either a pagerank of 4. So again it takes some work to get those high search engine rankings.
  • It’s a new company so it’s hard to tell where it is going.
