My fibro superpower

Lately I’ve discovered that I have a superpower. I have the ability to be annoyed by all sort of weird sounds. I hate that “sensitivity to light & sound” seems like one of fibro’s minor symptoms. The sound of the water pump going off & on all day gives me a headache or the washer running endlessly. It’s the kind of sound that can’t be drowned out with music or head phones.

It works both ways though, I absolutely love music for this reason. I just wish there was a magic word like Orovo that I could say so sound would stop bothering me so much. This has really been my main problem everywhere I’ve lived, the noise that keeps me from sleeping or functioning. Anyone have any suggestions about this. Do you have a super power?

I can make you thin & the clean plate myth

plateempty.jpg Like so many others I was raised with the adage “waste not want not”. I never really thought about how this applied to food until Paul Mckenna brought it up on “I Can Make You Thin.” Most of us just clean the plates even after we’re full. We don’t measure our food by whether we’ve had enough. We measure it by “Is there any food left?”

We eat all that is given to us. As children we were told “Think about all of the starving kids in such & such country”. He said “How does it help the starving people if you’re fat”. That’s a valid point. Instead, I’ve been saving some money on food by taking much smaller portions & only eating until I’m full. If there is still food left on the plate I can save it for another day. That, or I can always just buy smaller plates so I clean the plate.

Let the record stand

HPIM0735.JPGI use blogging to vent. I use blogging to make money. I read blogs to be informed. I’ve never thought about blogging as a way to preserve history. I guess it’s because I think of the internet as an excellent place to find platform beds, but I don’t know if it will be around in 100 years.

However, I doubt the pioneers thought that their journals would last. So, just in case my blog is around for decades to come I want to set the record straight. It was snowing here on Friday March 28 & I’m not happy about it. Yes, that’s what I’m choosing to pass onto future generations. It snowed. A lot. I didn’t like it. What would you say?
