I am a 27 year old princess with fibromyalgia. I am trying to manage my disease, find a job that I can do from home, & retain my general awesome-ness.

It looks the same to me

Monday, November 10th, 2008

I just finished posting about my super cool new blog design. You are probably thinking, “I do not see a super cool new blog design. At best I see a super cool old blog design.” After working on customizing a new template all morning I ran into a snag.

My super cool new theme was divided into two parts. If a post was too long then the first post would run into the second post. I don’t know a lot about blog design, but I think that is defined as “not good”. I tested the blog theme out before I customized it, but I didn’t test it out with having a longer post at the top of the page. I guess I’m back to looking for the perfect theme.

Beauty is in the eye of a fibromite

Monday, November 10th, 2008

Since I’m very technological I have a few basic criteria for choosing a wordpress theme. My first requirement is that the theme is pretty. My second requirement is that the theme is non ugly.

I’ve been updating all of my blogs recently with spiffy new themes. I just realized that every theme I chose was brown. The more daring themes were brown & blue. I definitely won’t be designing Black Friday ads anytime soon.

I think that once again fibromyalgia has come into play. I usually go for very shocking colors like yellow or orange. When I’m looking at a site for a long time my eyes start to hurt. I’ve check with my optometrist & he said I just needed eye drops. So I tend to favor more low contrast colors with a slightly larger font. The cool part about this theme is that if you press the tabs on the upper left part of the screen, the links change colors. That is as daring as I get.

Not User/Sarakastic Friendly

Friday, September 7th, 2007

I used to change the theme on at least one of my blogs every few weeks. What can I say? I’m easily distracted by shiny things & new graphics. However, all of this changed when wordpress redesigned their theme viewer. Now, it’s impossible for me to view more than the newest nine or so themes. Even this takes way too much work. Back in the day I just had to go to themes.wordpress.net & view the new themes. Now, I just seem to be able to search for exactly the theme I want. I don’t know the exact theme I want, I’m Sarakastic, I’ll know it when I see it. (I’m not linking to them because they just used up two hours of my life while I tried to figure this out).

I know that there must be some way, but I just don’t think that the new theme viewer is at all user friendly, well at least Sarakastic friendly. I’ve spent way too long trying to figure this out & trying to see if other people are having the same problem. Overall, I love wordpress software, I just wish the theme viewer wasn’t smarter than me. In a way it’s good because I can’t change my theme as often, but I would like that to be my decision instead of being forced into it.
