I am a 28 year old princess with fibromyalgia. I am trying to manage my disease, find a job that I can do from home, & retain my general awesome-ness. Read about how I pay my bills writing articles. You can also look into where I write.

Freelancing & Stress

This blog post was originally going to be about whether happiness hurts writing. Luckily, I don’t have that problem today :P I’m feeling discouraged. I understand that I’m lucky to be able to work around my fibromyalgia and do something I love. Maybe I’m just focusing on too many different areas. I write for residuals, I blog, I write articles for companies. It takes every form just to pay my meager bills every month.

Sometimes I wish my work came with POS systems, like my writing had a bar code on it that tells me how much it’s really worth. I find myself afraid and stressed out a lot. Yeah I made enough money this month but what if one of my top earning companies changes their policies or lets me go? I know that when I’m stressed my work isn’t as good and my life definately isn’t as good. How does anyone support themselves with freelance writing without becoming stressed out?

I was wondering what lead symptoms led you to getting diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I too am 26 and have had some recent things come up that makes me think this might be a possibility, however given my age I can’t seem to get a doctor to take it seriously. If you could email me and let me know it would be much appreciated. What you’re doing here is great. =)

Your blog is awesome. I’ve read a few posts and I’m very impressed. I plan to read more. I’m 52 and have had fibromyalgia for 15 years. I’ve wanted to make a living writing my entire life. I started a blog about 6 weeks ago, but I’m not sure anyone knows it exists. I’ve never sold any of my writing. Actually, I’ve shared very few things with anyone. I admire your courage, and your ability to support yourself through your writing. I have a 40-hour a week job with golden handcuffs. It would be so great to stay at home in my comfortable pajamas. The grass always looks greener………

Yes freelance writing is very stressful. The main factor is that you have to always complete your writing at time because if you are not complete at right time the firm will never hire you again.

    thanks

Hi Sara! I’ve been following your blog for some time now and I’ve been so inspired by you and other fibromites blogging about their life with fibro that I’ve started my own blog. I’d be honored if you’d stop by and check it out. Thanks and hope you’re having a good day =)
