Oh the joys of running a website
I’ll admit that I do feel quite guilty when I mark comments as spam. This has been happening since someone left a spam comment a few years ago saying that spam helps feed the children in Africa & asking me not to delete it. I assumed that the spammer had no concept of how nofollow/dofollow links work & probably wasn’t really sharing any of their website profits with kids. I just want to be fair. However, when I recieved a mass comment this morning telling me that their site is better than mine (it wasn’t), I didn’t feel that guilty.

You should never feel guilty about marking spam as spam! Spam lowers the quality of the web, and also the quality of your blog. I used to run a blog for an architecture company and the amount of spam we recieved was obscene. I ended up putting a huge list of black words and moderating every comment. Sure, it took up a lot of time, but it’s nice to be running a spam free blog…
I have to say I find your blog particularly interesting, and I wish you all the success you deserve with your business endeavours

That sender not only deserves your “spam” deletion, but also a cute “pinching of his nose” (just joking). Anyway, you will really know if a comment is spam because of the nature of the reply. Yes, sometimes there were comments that look like spam but in reality were not – that’s why I can relate to your “guilty” feeling. But who can question your instinct? Only yourself. But I can’t accept the one who told you that their site was better…first, you are not here to compete with others. You have your own niche and you have your own “audience”. Just forget that “nonsense” poster. just thought of him as a person who needs “care”, because he lacks it.

yes you can deviate your attention form the things that you suffer from if you know how to do it. finding pleasure from something you love makes a big distraction from what you suffer from. and it makes you feel happy.
