I retired early from my academic career, and now make jewelry - doing what I love and leaving the stresses of the changing academic scene helped me tremendously (yes, I loved academia when I began). I love the sun, too, and it helps tremendously. But I suggest that you learn to love cats! My two make life bearable and whenever I feel bad, they are right there beside me, staying with me, purring and loving and always nice! They are tranquilizers in fur!
