Goodbye Akismet Hello Defensio
In my last post detailing how akismet was ruining my life Cynthia was kind enough to tell me about a plugin called defensio. I’m not tech savvy enough to know how it works differently from akismet, I just know that it does. How do I know? Well, I get comments now without having to weed through the spam folder.
When I do venture to the spam folder everything is sorted by different levels of spaminess. I seriously want to give this thing multiple basketball trophies, but for blog plugins. The only downside that I’ve found is that you aren’t supposed to run it with other anti spam plugins. However, if one plugin does all the work you don’t need the rest. It just saves me a few minutes a day but those were the most frustrating parts of my day & now they are taken care of.

I’m so glad you like Defensio! Our family has a bunch of blogs, and when spam starts getting through on one, it usually hits ALL of them. That gets very time consuming. We were originally using Akismet plus Bad Behavior and two other plugins, and were able to get rid of all 4 in favor of Defensio. That means less spam AND less load on the server AND faster loading pages. Win all the way!
