To akismet or not to akismet

Akismet used to work fine. Then it just started throwing a temper tantrum lately. A lot of my legit comments are going to spam. I have to spend time every single day just wading through everything akismet thinks is spam & saving the real comments. I have looked to see if there is some option to make it “not suck so bad.” I don’t know what the technical term for that is.

Akismet doesn’t have any of the customization options that I wish it did. I know that there are other anti spam plugins out there. I used to use one when I first started blogging, but I don’t remember the name or why I switched. Apparently it has caught 11,538 spam since I installed it, which I’m grateful for. I just wish it worked better.

Try Defensio. It beats Akismet by miles and miles, AND provides statistics on its performance automatically. My site stays above 99.5% accuracy ALL the time with Defensio. (I don’t work for them or anything like that.)

I hope you would consider this comment not a spam at all since I do read and visit your site regularly but seldom comment to.

I couldn’t agree more..Get rid of Akismet…I doubt this message will even get through with that plugin. They really are the worst of all the plugins and can piss people off that don’t understand that their comments were screened and the blog owner didn’t even see them. I’d suggest finding another spam plugin………
