I’m helpless

I can’t wait to get my sparkly pink computer & install my blog editor Zoundry. I’m blogging in wordpress & it feels like I’m blogging in a dream. I just can’t seem to find anything. Here are a few examples:

  • I can’t find my draft posts.
  • Didn’t there used to be something called a time stamp?
  • It took me twenty minutes to find the categories tab.
  • Notice that none of my posts lately have pictures. That’s because I have no idea how to do this.
  •  I wouldn’t be able to ping a site if my life depended on it.
  • I know how to use the spellcheck in wordpress.  However, it doesn’t catch as many mistakes as I need it to.

Zoundry, I don’t say it often enough, but I love you.

The Bright Side

It probably isn’t a coincidence that my car & my computer both went to heaven within three days of setting the goal to find ways to relax. It’s been a test trying to find solutions & remain calm. I’ve been trying to look on the bright side. (It rarely works.) Here are some good experiences I’ve had with my forced vacation.

  • I recently thought, “Remember nature? That’s the place you always see on your screensaver. Maybe you should go & visit.”
  • I’ve been able to really focus on the TV. Usually, I am reading about something or shopping & then half watching the TV. Now I have time to watch celebrity wrestling & wonder if they take 4 ad.  I watch less TV now because I realize how absurd it is.
  • I find myself spending more time with friends.
  • I saw my bookshelf & wondered “Ohhh books, I think I used to read those. I wonder if I remember how.”

It’s been a forced vacation away from blogging & I’m excited to be able to start again soon. I really missed it. This made me realize how lucky I am to love what I do. However, I’m trying to enjoy the free time while it lasts.

Life without google toolbar

My computer went to heaven about a week ago. The new computer is on it’s way & I’ve been able to log in for a few minutes a day from someone else’s computer. This means that I don’t have any of my programs, bookmarks, or even the google tool bar installed.

It made me realize that I’m somewhat of a blog snob. There are a few blog urls & websites that I know off the top of my head.  However, that’s a pretty small number of the websites that I usually visit. In a search for a few of my favorite blogs from the past, I’ve come across a few of my favorite blogs of the future. The weird part is that this is the first time in several years that I haven’t had google pr to guide me when I read a blog. I have to judge it on what I think of it, not google. I find myself enjoying content more. I even spend more time reading stories about building houses, kitchen faucets, & boyfriends. In the past I would probably just have skipped over these. I still haven’t decided whether I will reinstall google toolbar on the new sparkly pink computer when it arrives.
