I am a 27 year old princess with fibromyalgia. I am trying to manage my disease, find a job that I can do from home, & retain my general awesome-ness.

A day in the life of a fibromite

Here is just one example of how fibromyalgia effects everything. I wanted to go see Prince Caspian on the big screen. There are some films that are just better in a movie theater. It’s like the difference between staying at hotels in las vegas & just looking at a postcard. In fact, I’ve been wanting to see Prince Caspian for months. I haven’t gone because in past experiences with movie theaters I have found that:

  • Movie theater chairs are uncomfortable & hit certain painful spots in my back.
  • I can’t stand the sound the sound of dozens of people chewing popcorn.
  • Movies last way too long. Even if it’s a great movie I can’t get into it because my back is hurting & I haven’t had a break.

I ended up going to the movie theater but I thought about leaving at least three times, even though I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

I herniated a cervical disc in November of last year. 8 months later and I am just about getting my life back but the pain is still with me. No more football, no more gym and everything hurts above the middle of my back. I know its not Fibromyalgia but its given me an insight into chronic pain. I decided to find out more about relieving neck pain and a webmaster friend has started putting together a website of treatment information. I hope it can help anyone with chronic neck pain find some relief.

I don’t have fibro, but I will say those chairs must be designed to make a person hurt, I’m always readjusting for better comfort. And the floor is sticky, I loathe sticky floors.
