How can I help someone with fibromyalgia?

I’m sure that living with a person with fibromyalgia is difficult. I try to make it easy as possible for my friends & family & not disturb their normal routines too much. Most of the time they don’t even know that I’m sick. However, if you live with a fibromite & want to make their lives easier here are a few tips:

  • Pretend that everything is five times louder than it actually is. Pretend that there isn’t any “background noise” & it is all just like fingernails scraping against a chalkboard. Try to eliminate as much of this as possible.
  • Keep frozen meals in the freezer, or bring home dinner on days when fibromyalgia is bad.
  • Listen.
  • If at all possible, take care of the heavy cleaning like vacuuming & scrubbing the shower.

I know that it’s hard to live with a person with fibromyalgia but a little consideration will go a long ways.

Great article. It’s such a debilitating disease. I cannot imagine how some people cope, I just hope they have a good support network.
