Back in the day
We had a computer when I was a kid, even before the internet became popular. Funny, back then I never wondered which of my favorite celebrities were in addiction treatment. The computer meant that I could type up reports for school. Our first computer had a black & white monitor that was more like blue & white. It was a big deal when we got a computer with a color monitor. Suddenly the paint program became a lot more interesting. Then when Windows came out, I was fascinated with changing the wallpaper & choosing from the ten or so options that came with the computer.
Using the computer used to be fun, now it feels like a chore. The computer is where I keep work. I realized that I haven’t changed my desktop wallpaper in three years & I’ve never had a custom wallpaper. So this afternoon I went & found one featuring Audrey Hepburn. Just for a minute, the computer wasn’t the box where I keep my work, it was fun.
