The Perfect Workout

For a lot of people the biggest hurdle to losing weight is in finding the motivation to work out even if they are on ephedra diet pills. With fibromyalgia, my biggest task is finding a workout that I can do that won’t leave me immobile for days or even weeks on end.

Usually, I just tell myself that it will get easier with time. However, I’m not building muscle for whatever reason, so my body just gets more & more run down. So I’ve decided to take the next thirty days & find the perfect workout that fits with my fibromyalgia & life. There isn’t a gym in town, & it’s too cold to go walking or do most things outside. Anyone have any suggestions?

Here is a link to my favourite article about exercise and fibromyalgia: http://www.quackwatch.com/03HealthPromotion/fibromyalgia/fms01.html

I have worked my way up to 1/2 hour on the treadmill without adverse results the next day, providing that something exhausting doesn’t come up to add to that. Still, there are some days when it feels like I’m back to square one and everything hurts and I have to go to bed. But when I’ve recovered I can definitely still feel the improvement in my fitness level.

For awhile I lifted light weights, too, but that was too much for me. I’m going to try 15 minutes on the treadmill and start up with the weights again. My upper body really needs work.

Since you have to exercise at home and I presume cost is a factor, those stretchy bands are supposed to be great, and inexpensive. Dr. Phil said that those are the only things his wife uses even though they have a well-equipped gym. I have the bands and I need to learn how to use them. So far, I just use them to stretch my hamstrings. The Sparkpeople site is full of exercises with demos. I think I will print some off and add one or two here and there. Now you’ve got me inspired!

Why not talk it out with a gym instructor or a physical therapist and have one visit you at home instead?
