Random scene from a fibromite’s life

The fly swatter fell on the floor. Now a normal person would just pick this up & not think anything of it. My thought process went like this,

Well, I could pick it up, but I might just fall over & there aren’t any good books to read down there. Maybe if I have a book in my other hand just in case. Maybe I can pick it up with my toes.

Finally I just kicked it out of the way so hopefully no one will trip over it.

This post has been brought to you by pain

I was thinking about Sesame Street today. (Yes, my mind works in wondrous & mysterious ways). I remember how at the end of every show they say something like “This show has been brought to you by the letter Z & Viewers like you”. Today, the prevailing theme in my life hasn’t been the letter Z, it’s been pain.

It’s the general thinking if you want to make money blogging that you need to post once a day, or several times a day. I work on my blogs all day, most everyday. I don’t always post everyday on this blog because let’s face it, I’m cranky, I’m sick & I don’t see how it’s constructive sharing that with the world.

I went on a small shopping trip today & then to an art gallery, all things that I like to do. However, right now it feels like my muscles have been sunburned & now they are being run through a paper shredder, all while they are still in my body. It’s just frustrating that there is so much in life that I can’t enjoy. It really drove home to me about how important it is that I keep my home business going because I really can’t leave the house everyday.

Technology Brain Freeze

On days when the fibro fog is bad, (& when isn’t it?) I have trouble learning new things. It’s like my college educated brain is in quicksand. In matters of technology, my brain just seems to shut completely off. This might be ok except for the fact that my job is quite technical.

As such, I need technology explained to me in the simplest terms possible. There are simple tasks that I need to accomplish but I’ve just been putting them off for months & even years. One of these was buying a thumb drive. I knew I needed one to store a lot of the files on my computer. However, I’d read through the reviews & my brain would just shut off. This has been on my to-do list for several years because I haven’t been able to figure out the downsides to thumb drives, so I haven’t bought one.

I’ve tried reading through technology blogs before, but they are either usually over my head, or way too simple. Today I was reading through postings by Curt Finch on the Inc blog. I think the writers strike the perfect balance. The articles are informative & easy to read. I even found out that thumb drives are easy to hack into, which is something I would’ve worried about had I known that I should be worried about it. They also introduced me to the world’s most secure thumb drive. It was just what I was looking for in order to avoid technology brain freeze.
