I run a marathon everyday

Most people will never understand how difficult having fibromyalgia can be, especially the fatigue. I’m not lazy, it just takes about as much effort for me to put on a pair of tennis shoes as it does for most people to run a marathon. I’m the only member of my family with fibromyalgia, but several of my brothers have chronic fatigue syndrome. I’ve always been interested in how the diseases are similar & how they are different. I’ve never really related our illnesses or thought about how we are both having the same struggles with different diseases.

I was just looking through a forum called “Chronic Fatigue Treatments” that listed topics such as: bad memory, thyroid problems, & mono onset. Does any of this sound familiar? It’s the story of my life. The other thing that I liked about this site was that it listed both vitamins & prescription drugs for treatment. Most sites just advocate one or the other, so it’s nice to see a balance.

I guess I have more in common with my brothers than I thought. My point is that people with cfs or fms have a lot in common & instead of dividing them into two camps, as I’ve always done, it makes sense to bring them together in one community to support each other. After all, everyday I feel like I’ve run a marathon, & I think so do people with CFS.
