Finding a balance

My approach to health is a little different. Usually people are either totally into homeopathic cures & won’t go to a doctor, or they are totally against anything outside of traditional medicine. I’ve been at both extremes with my fibromyalgia. However, I’ve finally decided that I need to strike a balance in order to have the best health possible. This is quite time consuming because I have to keep track of two very different worlds.

I need to know the news & updates in what’s going on in the world of medicine & in the homeopathic world as well. I was excited to learn about a podcast series from the Whole Foods Market. They are the leading organic food supermarket in the world, so they must really know what they are talking about. Every month they have an expert on the podcast discussing everything from herbs to natural body care. This month they are doing a “Back to School” podcast. This is a three part series that has everything necessary to get your kid ready to go back to school. It discusses things like probiotics, essential fatty acids, & even nutrition. This podcast will make it much easier for me to stay current in what’s going on so I can find the perfect balance for my health.

The health fair made me sick

candyshop.jpgMy town has a health fair every year. The great thing about it is that they have a battery of medical tests available at discount prices. This might sound weird, but it really helps when you don’t have insurance.

They have a variety of tables set up for dentists, optometrists, & poison control Each table gives you candy. Now, I like candy, everyone does. It just seems an odd thing to give out at the health fair, especially at the blood pressure table. Of course I, being me, ate all of the candy at once. I got very sick & didn’t feel so healthy. So two questions, does your town have a health fair? If so, do they give out candy?

I hope there is smoke in heaven

A lot of people have cited that their fibromyalgia stems from a traumatic experience, such as a car accident. I actually had a pretty bad car accident after I already had fibromyalgia. Interesting enough I found out that everyday with fibromyalgia feels like you just got in a car accident yesterday. However, it isn’t something that I would want to experience again.

There was a deer involved, as there always seems to be in Utah. My mom was driving & she was looking at the deer & didn’t notice that the car in front of us had slammed on its brakes. I remember the horrific impact. After, everything was so quiet that I was pretty sure I was dead. The car was filled with a lot of smoke. Actually, it was just dust from the air bags. However, my first thought was “I hope there is smoke in heaven.”
