I thought my medicine was bad

As a fibromite, there have always been medicines that I’ve just haven’t liked, or the side effects weren’t worth whatever pain relief I got from the med. I’ve been trumped. I was watching a commercial for restless leg syndrome. It had the usual side effects, like may cause death. (Seriously, who’s legs are that restless that they are willing to risk death, the same goes for toenail medicines with the same warning).

Then I heard it. “Consult with your doctor if you have an increased urgency to gamble”. Now I know a fair bit about the human body, but how does a medicine that is supposed to calm your legs, make you want to gamble? What a cool side effect to have. Anyone know how this is possible? Anyone?

Ugh - I just wrote the other day on my site about how bad my Restless Leg Syndrome has become. I have been putting off getting any medication for it because I’m on enough right now. I guess I’ll just suffer!

I suppose that if I lost sleep night after night it would put me in a bad frame of mind. I wouldn’t be making good decisions. Same goes for chronic pain. I can’t imagine enduring pain that never went away.

Ah Karen that makes a lot of sense, I hadn’t even thought of that!

Mirapex is a dopamine agonist. Dopamine is involved in addiction. That’s about all I know, but basically addiction is a chemical imbalance and Mirapex can cause it or something like that. I actually take Mirapex for fibromyalgia. Everything else I tried either didn’t work or had bad side effects. Mirapex helps me, but I have to take it before going to bed and sleep through the side effects, else I get really bad nausea and vertigo. Fortunately, I have found out that just sniffing some essential peppermint oil relieves nausea very well and without side effects.

Woah, may cause death, no way! I live in the UK and we’re not allowed to see adverts for prescription meds for some odd reason, apparently the Brits are too susceptible to advertising or some silly thing, so I’ve never seen an ad that listed such an extreme side effect…

My favorite side effect listing was some throat spray stuff which just said “Call you doctor if anything unusual happens”. You know, like you turn into an egg plant or similar.
