Can your blog come back to haunt you?

I’m not talking about in the afterlife. I’m thinking about if I ever need to interview for jobs again. I recently read about a student who was denied her teaching certificate right before graduation because she had a picture of herself drinking on her myspace profile. Then I read this article about how one in five employers finds information on the Internet about their candidates on the web. I don’t have anything to hide, any prospective employers would just see my overuse of the phrase “wicked awesome”, but maybe even that can come back to haunt me. It has got me thinking about always appearing professional online. If anyone asks, my interests include, working smarter not harder, & my worst habit is that I just care too much.

Yes, the internet is hard in the sense that if you write something down here then it will stick forever. Many people think they can goof off on the internet but in my opinion we have to be even more professional here than in real life.

Yeah I agree. I don’t like to bad mouth anyone, criticize, or give out too much personal information. You just never know.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. There are more things in life to focus on.

Great site and thanx for checking mine out earlier.

I seriously worry about this. I have all kinds of haenous crap posted on my blog about me. Good thing for now I own my own biz, but what if i ever want to get a real job? but at the same time I feel why should I curb any creativity that might stem from my excentricities?

We have similar interests, except mine are that I’m a chronic self-starter and my favorite pastime is sharing the credit. Great post. You have a good voice and style.
