What’s it like?
- People often ask me how fibromyalgia feels. I usually reply with “not good”, or “it hurts”. I don’t really want anyone to understand the pain because that would mean that they would have to have experienced something horrible to relate to pain on this level. However, I want people to understand in a small way so they will know what they are asking of me, without me whining. Here is some brainstorming on describing what I feel like most days.
- It feels like I’ve been hit by a car, & then the car went into reverse & ran over me again.
- You know how they say gravity puts tons of weight on us so we don’t fly away into outer space? I can feel every bit of it pushing on me.
- Tie a 20 lbs. weight to each of your arms & legs & then just “go out there & get going, & you’ll feel better”.
- Remember how you always tell me about that time that you had the flu & you just put your mind to it & you got well? Imagine the worst that you have ever felt, multiply it by three, do that everyday year upon year, & then we can talk.

Hi Sara,
You’re a champion.
My wife has has FM for as long as we’ve been married. Four kids later she’s still fighting hard and I don’t give near nearly enough credit for her determination.
So I have some idea, I hope, of your challenges.
Keep going
Oh, and your blogging is great. I especially liked the 2 week series on getting going in blogging.
