The TV business

There was always that one kid in career class in high school, when asked what they wanted to do, they replied that they wanted to watch TV.  There was of course a lot of snickering & mocking of that’s kid future employment.  Answers like these were seen as the slacker, or lazy way out. Most people wouldn’t turn down such a job, "Oh yeah, I want to watch TV all day, I’ll take all the episodes of Gilmore Girls".

However, I just read about ten jobs for TV junkies.  The jobs are mostly in TV production. I wish that my high school counselor would’ve told us about some of these. However, unlike what they will tell you at most high schools, I will list some of the drawbacks & the feasibility of getting one of these jobs. A lot of these pay really well, but you would have to live in Hollywood, & have some college experience.  Some of the jobs seem very difficult to get, you would have to know someone in the industry.

Personally, I think that  TV is to my generation what newspapers were to the previous generations. Unfortunately, we seem to only use it for celebrity gossip & close up’s of medical procedures.  I think if anyone can break through that, & bring a fresh idea, then that will be some of the hardest work out there, probably not meant for couch potatoes.
