Business Myth #2

My second misconception of starting my own business was the idea of residual income.  You see it all over the internet & plastered on late night infomercials. "Work a little today &  receive a check every month for the rest of your life". This is usually accompanied by the picture of a person gleefully going to their mailbox & pulling out piles of cash, peppered by real life testimonials.

This myth kept me away from the internet for a very long time.  I was never into the MLM thing.  I didn’t want to have to recruit people to make money. I did want mailboxes full of money, but I knew that this wasn’t a reasonable expectation. I just wanted to be able to work for a set fee. In the simplest way possible, I just wanted to work & get money for it.  However, for so many years the idea of MLM was so prevalent that there didn’t seem to be a legitimate way of working out of your home.  I know some people who have made a lot of money doing this, but let’s face it, my people skills aren’t the best, & I just couldn’t find anything I really believed in.  Let alone anything that I could convince thousands of other people to try while still being able to sleep at night. Even though the internet has been around for awhile, this wasn’t possible until very recently.  How do you feel about MLM, has it worked for you?
