What is my soul worth?

I didn’t do sponsored posting for a long time, because it was so frowned upon.  So many people wrote how it was basically selling your soul.  I like my soul, & didn’t want to do this.  I think it depends on how you go about it. It has really helped my income, but I think it has made me a better writer as well.  It is possible though to just be in it for the money, which will probably ruin your blog.

I think it is important before you ever start doing this, to sit down & get your priorities down on paper.  Write a mission statement for your blog.  Have in mind where you want it to go. Are there certain sites that you don’t want to promote, such as gambling sites? What ratio of sponsored to non-sponsored posts do you want to have?  How will you explain this to your readers & defend it against nay sayers? How will you disclose that this a sponsored post?  What ethics does the company you work for need to have? Most importantly, write about what you want your blog to become.

Then tack this up somewhere that you can see it everyday & think about it when you take a sponsored post & ask, "does this really fit in?". I think that this can be done ethically, it can be done well  It has really helped my business & my life & I haven’t had to compromise where I am going.
