I’ve finely honed my commenting skills. I learned to use the word honed. Here is a dissection of the elusive perfect comment. The word dissection sounds gross, but I promise it will not be that icky.
1. Don’t comment cranky. Your tone will show through. It’s like not walking into a grocery store while hungry.
2. Be Personal. "Great Post!" has been done to death. Don’t leave the person wondering if you are a spammer.
3. If you’re commenting on a cat blog, make sure you aren’t putting in the url of one of your blogs that has a post on top about how you hate cats. Lesson learned the hard way.
4. Warm up. I learned this the hard way as well. I was sarcastic before people knew I was just kidding. I need to slowly get people used to me instead of being all in your face.
What has been your favorite comment of all time? What’s your definition of a perfect comment?
