Very True. I also registered with a couple survey companies a few years ago. The most I ever got for a survey was $2.00. Then a while back I joined a pay per click website, I actually earned a little over $40.00 but they have yet to pay me. I don't think I'll ever get paid. Recently I came across a site http://secret-shopper-review.com and I found out about becoming a secret shopper. I have since signed up with a few mystery shopper companies and have been on 2 assignments. One of them was actually a market research assignment where I had to watch a couple commercials and then answer some questions on a computer. It was supposed to take an hour but I finished in 30 minutes and it payed $40 right away.

Yes, I agree. Mystery shopping has more potential for bringing in extra income. Most of the "paid surveys" I tried just offered a "chance" to win their sweepstakes.

If you are concerned about the legitimacy of mystery shopping, you might want to read this article: http://www.become-a-secret-shopper.com/is-mystery-shopping-legitimate.html

You are right that the bulk of one's income will probably come from referals/affiliate programs. However, mystery shopping might be a better alternative. I know some friends that were able to find legitimate mystery shopper companies easily and make real money with that. They also were able to keep the products they bought. If you have a full-time job, however, travelling to stores as a secret shopper might be difficult to do frequently.

I know exactly what you mean, although many of the companies involved in paying for surveys claim they can pay you in cash, most of the times expect to be payed with coupons, gifts and other freebies. I think that finding a survey that pays with actual cash is kinda hard, but then there are focus groups which can really pay more if you're willing to put in the effort.

Thanks for the article

Michael
