Day 5: Web Design with Fibromyalgia
My design process included several days of me yelling at my computer “Be pretty dang you”. Ok, so I didn’t say dang. I thought design would come naturally to me, because I’m a girl, and as such instinctively know 15 different names for the color blue. However, I would find something that was pleasing to my eyes, and all the non fibromites would say that it was too dark or hard to read. I went through several designs before I realized that I see things differently. I don’t like high contrast. Maybe that is why almost every fibromyalgia site seems to be lavender. So, in order for my sites to be more pleasing to the masses, I had to learn to see how other people would see them, and add in more white. A word of caution: I thought if I could have the perfect design, I would be set. I wish I would have stuck to one design and focused more on my content. Has anyone else with fibromyalgia noticed this about colors? Leave a comment and let me know.
